Football fails again

There are few people in the world I dislike more than the manager of Manchester United, Alex Ferguson. That said this poster held up by Carlos Tevez, the Manchester City striker, during his team's open-top bus tour celebrating winning the Premier League title, was ill advised and will do nothing to reduce tensions between the two teams.

I still find it hard to fathom how poorly footballers and their clubs communicate when their reputations, sponsorship deals and brands are worth many millions each year. Football is the world's biggest sport - a global business and an influence on billions. It is time clubs, players and the wider authorities recognised this.
