Communicator of the week

A belated Communicator of the Week award due to technical issues over the weekend. My choice, Caroline Spelman, will be a controversial one and is based on her statement to the House of Commons which you can watch here and decide for yourself.

In very difficult circumstances and under great pressure the Secretary of State took full responsibility, demonstrated that she was truly sorry, outlined clearly why a u-turn had been made and showed the government is willing to listen. It has been a bumpy time for the government and too many u-turns will not play well with the electorate. However, after the Brown years, which were the perfect embodiment of someone failing to admit they are wrong, this clear concise apology was a refreshing change and should be applauded as such.
