Labour's next director of communications

The New Statesman has an extraordinary piece this week about the bubbling animosity that exists at the heart of the Labour Party. Read a summary here. According to what appear very well sourced informants, the Ed Balls Brownite wing of the party are biding their time to dethrone Ed Miliband, while Miliband's people are 'terrified of Ed Balls and Yvette.'

I have a solution to bring these warring factions together and also solve the problem of who will be Labour's director of communications and Coulson/Campbell figure. Just over a month ago the Mail on Sunday ran a story about how Stephanie Flanders, the BBC's economics editor, had previously dated both Ed Miliband and Ed Balls. Strangely for the Mail on Sunday this wasn't accompanied by nudges, winks and innuendo, concluding she is very happy with her long-time partner.

Surely then she is the perfect person to build bridges with both camps as well as shake up Labour's comms operation?
