The power of a photograph

Throughout the twentieth century powerful images have changed public opinion. The AP photo that is on every front page today, and will have been wired around the world, will do the same. 

This photograph will move opinion against those who have been campaigning against the changes to tuition fees. The Government won the vote yesterday but there were Lib Dems and Conservatives who didn't obey the whip. The coalition has been strained. There was unease at the changes from generations who benefited from free education over the past 50 years. This matters far less to middle England now, who will take away only one memory of yesterday:
