It's official: Labour's spin machine is alive and well

The excellent Iain Martin at the Wall Street Journal has blogged this afternoon how those close to the Labour Party are suggesting Ed Miliband's leadership could be on the rocks by Christmas. Come off it. Events are lined up that will allow him to score hits on the coalition.

Expectation management wasn't invented by the Labour Party, but they came very close to perfecting it (at least in the pre-Brown days). It is one of the oldest plays in the New Labour book, just below burying bad news.

So, the Labour spin machine is alive and well despite reports to the contrary. It's just a shame journalists still haven't come to recognise when they are being spun.
